OPTING WITHIN TRANSLATION STRATEGIES IN LITERARY TEXT TRANSLATION AMONG UNDERGRADUATES

چکیده

This article epitomises different approaches to translation and explores the results of application most commonly used translational strategies in literary text an academic context, among third-year students undergraduate studies English Chinese at University East Sarajevo. After relevant theoretical background, empirical part offers presentation discussion reference particular structural elements a text, proper nouns restructuring culture-specific items adaptation. The premise was that specific units carried out with literal translation, original form retention paraphrasing, along possible deviations from faithfulness. text-based approach convenience sampling method showed complex restructure omitted introductory subordinate clauses, time/tense variations back-shifted clauses indirect speech choice strategy (particularly toponyms). Further focus on examination intercultural mismatch source language-specific cultural items.
